The twin sister of César Manrique, Amparo Manrique Cabrera, has died this Tuesday at 99 years of age. "This sad loss affects us all to some extent, because of the special meaning the Manrique family have for the Lanzarote people, a unity forever to the legacy of the artist", said the president of the PP in Lanzarote, Ástrid Pérez, who has been the first to send a condolence note.
In that note, Pérez transferred "to his whole family, friends and relatives" of Amparo Manrique "his regret" and that of his party colleagues for this loss. In addition, the senator for Lanzarote Joel Delgado, has also sent a statement conveying his condolences "to his brothers, Carlos and Juana Manrique Cabrera, his children and all his family, friends and relatives."
"A few months after the centenary of the birth of Cesar is commemorated, this is undoubtedly a very sad moment in which a sense of loss for all is sharpened, because the Manrique family has always known how to keep alive the legacy of the artist, "he says.
