El pais reports that "The Mossos D'Esquadra, the police force of Catalonia have shot a male suspect this afternoon in Subirats, a municipality 50 kilometers from Barcelona, according to police sources.
That man could be Younes Abouyaqoub, the fleeing terrorist and alleged driver of the Barcelona terror attack in Las Ramblas.
According to police sources that have not yet been officially confirmed, a witness alerted them of the presence of the fleeing terrorist in the municipality.
The Mossos apparently opened fire on Abouyaqoub, 22 years old.
The terrorist has remained at large since last Thursday when he carried out the attack on the Rambla.
The Mossos distributed their photographs today and the call for citizen collaboration seems to have had a quick response.
At 16.39 hours this afternoon, the Mossos warned that there was a "police operation underway" in Subirats, and asked that "only official information be disseminated".
Police sources point out that a man, who could be Abouyaqoub was allegedly wearing an explosive belt - which it is as yet not known if authentic or a dummy.
The man reportedly cried "Allah is great" in the Street".
