AEMET(Agencia Estatal de Meteorología) has activated a yellow alert for high temperatures on Friday in Lanzarote, which could change to red alert over the weekend
It is expected that thermometers will reach 34+ degrees in the centre and south of the island.
The Meteorological agency and the Canarian health authority have also issued a red alert for Gran Canaria.
On Saturday, temperatures are expected to soar. in parts of Gran Canaria, as well as Fuerteventura and Tenerife.
The health department advises people to drink plenty of water, to enjoy an easily digestible diet, avoid sunbathing at noon as well as physical exertion.
Children, the elderly and chronically ill should be protected from dehydration. The hospitals on the affected islands are on alert.
