On April 26th, Police from the Civil Guard, Costa Teguise investigated a 35 year old woman, named only as R.R.M. accused, of a crime of threatening another person via social networks.
At the end of January, the victim went to the Costa Teguise Police HQ to complain, after reading a series of comments on her wall in Facebook in which the accused threatened to physical assault her along with other forms of intimidation, which were made from another profile on the social network.
Once the existence of threats were confirmed, an investigation began which concluded with an accusation of a crime of threats to the alleged author of the comments, which had subsequently been erased from facebook.
The accused has been refereed to the relevant Arrecife court.
The Civil Guard have commented that the of posting of threatening comments through social networks, Facebook, Twitter, etc is a crime that can be punished by up to two years in prison.
